Mid-May-June 6, 1940: Coalescing and documentation of vehicle general characteristics

June 6-June 20, 1940: Initial work to develop a detailed vehicle specification

June 21-July 2, 1940: Development and documentation of detailed vehicle drawing and specification

July 3-July 11, 1940: Preparation and finalization of invitation for bids

July 12- July 21, 1940: Bid preparation by manufacturers

July 22, 1940: Bid opening and award to Bantam

July 22-July 24, 1940: Willys given permission by QMC to build a pilot model at their own expense

July 23-August 5, 1940: Finalization of bid award and contract award for Bantam

August 5-Sept. 21, 1940: Bantam pilot model built and christened "Bantam Reconnaissance Car" (BRC)

August 15-November 4, 1940: Willys pilot model built and named the Quad

September 23, 1940: BRC delivered to Camp Holabird

Sept. 24-Oct. 23, 1940: BRC tested at Camp Holabird

October 4, 1940: Ford representatives, on invitation from the QMC, meet with QMC representatives who request they build and submit a pilot model

October 4-November 21, 1940: Ford pilot model built and dubbed the Pygmy

October 4-December 3, 1940: Order for 500 from each manufacturer becomes 1,500 from each contender

Oct. 23-29, 1940: Inspection, test and final reports on Bantam pilot model completed

October 30, 1940: BRC officially accepted and order for next sixty-nine placed

November 13, 1940: Willys Quad delivered to Camp Holabird

November 23, 1940: Ford Pygmy delivered to Camp Holabird

November 1940-January 1941: Bantam builds the other 69 from original contract; Willys Quad and Ford Pygmy tested at Camp Holabird

January 6, 1941: Ford pilot model accepted and order for 1,500 vehicles commences

January 8-28, 1941: Willys pilot model rejected and order for 1,500 cancelled

January 31-February 11, 1941: Willys 1,500 unit order restored

February-June 1941: Bantam and Ford build their 1,500

February 1941-May 1941: Creation of the Willys MA

June 1941: Willys MA goes into volume production

July 1941: RFP for 16,000 vehicles

August 1941: Award for 16,000 trucks to Willys-Overland Motors

August-October 1941: Creation of the Willys MB

October-November 1941: Formalization of agreement between, Willys, Ford and the QMC for Ford to build the MB under license
